Everyone wants the ability to light their homes, drive their vehicles, cook their meals, and charge their devices. Energy is in high demand; it’s also misunderstood and hard to define.

We created a model of the energy system that shows a simplified, but inclusive, perspective of our current arrangement. It helps identify gaps and see connections we haven’t made yet. The model also brings light to data that might otherwise be overlooked; in this case, that means Alberta’s innovations towards cleaner oil sands production, renewable technology, and energy storage are happening alongside innovations in policy.

Almost everything we do at home, at work, and in transit demands energy. The energy system we use impacts our industries, landowners, Indigenous communities, and the public at large. We created a model that represents all the individual parts of the whole, and how they work together.
